Bali is a world away from the rest of Indonesia, and it has long been a popular destination for international visitors. Although surfers have been going to Bali since the 1930s, it wasn’t until the 1960s that surfing vacations to Bali became fashionable. The pattern continues today, with tourists flocking to Bali. Bali is a fantastic getaway with its volcanic environment, beautiful rice terraces, and white sand beaches. Not to mention the excellent surfing, low-cost shopping, and pervasive spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time backpacker’s favourite. Book the best hotels in Bali. Kuta is Bali’s busiest resort sector, home to some of the island’s most opulent hotels. A smattering of inexpensive guesthouses may be found behind the main waterfront, all of which are within easy walking distance of the beach. Uluwatu, a large limestone peninsula jutting out into the sea, is a short taxi or hired motorbike ride away. Uluwatu attracts visitors who come to see the temple, go surfing, or watch the sunset over the cliffs. Denpasar, the island’s capital, is in the south, although Kuta, the island’s surf and party hub, is close by. Many more palm palms border the beach in Seminyak to the north, and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach.
Another must-see is Legian, which offers superb surfing as well as an active nightlife along the beach. The beach is where Legian life begins and finishes. During the day, surf shops offer lessons, and after sunset, bustling bars and live music venues take over. There’s a reason Bali is known as “paradise,” and a visit to one of the island’s many beaches will show you why. Pemuteran Beach, on the island’s north shore, offers stunning views of the descending slopes that lead to the Bali Sea. Many of the beaches along this stretch of coastline have black sand, notably the sweeping Lovina beach, where dolphins can frequently be spotted. Tulamben, in the east, is one of Bali’s best diving spots.
